Roscrea Musical Society held its A.G.M on Wednesday Night last 23rd June 2010 in the Damer Court Hotel Roscrea. There was a large Crowd in Attendance of both existing members and also some new faces. There was great atmosphere in the room and the Jokes and wise cracks were flying from all angles before the meeting was brought to order by outgoing Chairman Mark McLoughlin. The meeting started with the minutes of last years AGM being read by our Secretary Siobhan Bowe who gave a thorough breakdown and content. Any matters arising from the Minutes were dealt with and after being adopted were signed off…....
The next item was the Secretaries report, which was delivered promptly and efficiently by Siobhan. This report covered everything which was discussed over the year at various meetings of Roscrea Musical Society.
The Treasurer’s report was next and we were invited by Joint Treasurers Margaret Lyons and Mary Pyne to go through a very detailed Treasurers script which was handed out earlier to each attendant of the meeting, As usual this was a very detailed and self explanatory report and we could see how every cent was spent throughout the year.
Our Chairman Mark McLoughlin gave his Address and congratulated each and every one of his committee, sub committee’s and members for all their hard work and commitment which was given to the Society over the last Twelve Months. Mark also thanked everyone who was involved in making the 70th Anniversary Celebrations such a great success. Mark continued expressing his excitement by announcing that the Society had being nominated for no less than three nominations for the much acclaimed ‘AIMS Awards’’ following what can only be described as a Fantastic show which was performed by the Society this year of ‘’Guys and Dolls’’. Out of the Three Nominations we were successful in winning two of these awards with Paul Spencer picking up a well earned award for his hilarious role as Nathan Detroit in this years production. The society also picking up the award for the Best Programme – Mark commented that the Programme was a special edition Souvenir programme which was developed especially for the 70th Anniversary – The Brain Child in developing such a fantastic and splendid Programme was Mr. Tadhg Maher and his crew. No doubt this programme will be talked about for many years to come.
The next task of the meeting was to elect the officers for the coming year and the following people takes up the helm after being successfully elected by those present:

The final task of the Night to be delivered was a Special Award which is presented each year to a deserving member of the group known as ‘’The Unsung Hero Award’’ Mark gave a detailed reason as to why this person was selected to receive this Prestigious award , ‘’ for all his hard work over the years , whenever something had to be done he was there, He kept everyone in good spirits with his witty Jokes , laughter and fun and his positive attitude and not least for his brilliant New York Accent when he played Joey Biltmore in Guys and Dolls this Year – The winner was the one and only Ian Hanrahan – Congratulations Ian and well Done , You are the well Deserving Recipient of this Year’s Unsung Hero Award.
The Chairman again thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting. Everyone then partook in enjoying a well received cuppa and refreshments provided by the staff of the Damer Court Hotel.
