Best wishes to Bernie’s Super Valu dream team who will be taking part in the Musgrave/Super Valu/Centra National Triathlon on this Saturday the 6th of September. The three enthusiastic athletes are currently serving members of Bernies Super Valu, Roscrea. They are Seamus Mahon, Benji Riordan and Padraic Phelan.

Each athlete has their own specialty. Seamus will do the 800m swim, Benji will take on the 10km walk and Padraic will embark on the 33km cycle.

The triathlon will take place in Co Cork. All monies raised will go to Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin, Co Dublin, as well as the Irish Cancer Society

Speaking to Super Valu Manager this week, Brian Colclough, told The Tipperary Star/Roscrea Online that he was very proud of the three lads and wished them every success possible on Saturday. He said it was fantastic to work with people with such initiative and encouraged the public to support them, and in doing so support such two worthwhile charities. Brian pointed out that the three athletes carried out all the intensive training needed to be able to compete in this grueling competition, in their own time. Such dedication needs to be applauded and we are sure that like last year, the athletes will have a very successful day and fundraising campaign.

Fundraising will continue throughout the store during the week. There is no pressure whatsoever on anyone, as donations are by voluntary contribution only. Once again we wish the lads every success and trust that the whole event will indeed be a tremendous national success.
