Monday 12th July 9.00pm Launch of Tales in Songs and Stories. Heroes of Renown, a book of poems, songs and stories by Mr. Pat Joe Whelan. Pat Joe is well known for his work, but this is his first ever publication. The launch will take place in the Auburn Lounge and will be performed by Mr. Michael Smith T.D. There will be recitations, readings and of course the odd song! Refreshments will be served and a session is planned.
Tuesday 13th July 8.00 pm - Meet the Music Makers...... This consists of workshops on instru
ment making by well-known craftsmen, followed by a seisiun cheoil. The craftsmen featured are: Danny Mulvihill - Fiddle, Quentin Cooper - Mandolin Repair and Rehairing Bows, Michael Dooley - Pipes, Michael Searson - Accordion, Tom Cussen - Banjo. For any music lover and indeed those who are just interested in craftwork, this is an event not be missed. The venue is Grant's Hotel.
Wednesday 14th July 8.30 pm - Homecoming Reception in Grant's Hotel Following an open-air concert in Castle Street at 8.30pm performed by local musicians, there will be a reception for overseas visitors to the fleadh in Grant's Hotel.
Thursday 15th July 9.30pm Oiche Ghaelach......... This takes place in Lua Ryan's Auburn Lounge. Oiche Ian de cheoil, amhrain, scealaiocht agus rince, tri mhean na Gaeilge. A night of music and entertainment featuring many well-known traditional artists conducted mostly through the Irish language. Guest performers will include Meatai Joe Sheamuis, the Moneen Ceili Band and Roscrea Chomlatas Members.
