The people of Roscrea, Birr and surrounding areas are in for a real treat when world-renowned philosopher, poet and author John O’Donohue visits Birr on Tuesday the 18th of January for what promises to be a truly enlightening evening.

John O'Donohue lives in the West Of Ireland and speaks Gaelic as his native language. He has degrees in Philosophy and English Language and in 1990 was awarded a Ph. D in Philosophical Theology. Author and Poet, John has travelled extensively over Ireland, Europe and the USA sharing his concepts, thoughts and philosophies. As an author his writing draws the reader into intimate conversation with neglected or unknown regions of the soul. Readers say his work puts words on things they have felt for years but could never express

As a speaker John evokes an atmosphere of attention where heart and head gradually open to new horizons and where often the inspired self gains courage to break free from inner prisons. John's talents are being increasingly recognized by the Corporate World of Work where he speaks to themes such as: Leadership: The Awakening of Creativity; Without Vision, The Work-Place Works Against Itself; The Gift of Encouragement in Times of Anxiety; The Art of Change: Finding the Courage for New Horizons; Coaching: The Art of Awakening Real Presence; The Intense Threshold: Holding Personal Integrity Within the System.

John's two best selling books Anam Cara and Divine Beauty received exceptional reviews upon their release with the Irish Times calling Anam Cara a phenomenon in itself. A book to read and re-read forever, its style of varied narration responds to our times.

John's much anticipated talk in Birr on the 18th of January is entitled God as the Horizon of Healing, Hope and Creativity. The evening will commence at 8.00pm in the Marian Hall, tickets are priced at just 10.00 and will be available at the door. All patrons are encouraged to come early so as to avoid any disappointment.
